About The Wine

"The journey of Familia Zuccardi is a summation of the contemporary Argentine wine scene: they currently make some of the most interesting reds and whites in the country when just 20 years ago, they were unknown in the fine wine market." ~Vinous Media

The surname Zuccardi has a well-deserved reputation in the wine industry worldwide. This family is not only responsible for producing some of the best Argentinian wines, but they also have the best wine tourism experience in the entire world: For the third consecutive year, Zuccardi Valle de Uco has been named "The Best Vineyard in the World" by the recognized magazine and digital media company, William Reed Business Medi.

This family business founded by engineer Alberto Zuccardi in 1963, has 6 different estates strategically placed in some of the best wine-growing areas of Mendoza. Today, it is directed by Sebastián Zuccardi, Alberto's grandson.

Sebastián is a visionary and innovative agronomist and winemaker who has made great strides and improvements since he took over the winery. Among other important achievements, he started and promoted a department of research and development that studies the terroir of the region, in order to better understand the land and improve the quality of their wines. Sebastian says: "We don’t look for perfect wines, but those that express the place, the region”.

The winery was built in 2013 and is a tribute to the majestic Andes mountains that surround it. Zuccardi Wines is sustainable in all aspects, from the vineyard to the cellar and even the architecture, where the construction is made with natural elements from the area. The wines are vinified in basins and amphoras allowing a more natural result and with the least possible human intervention.

The Andes shape everything—climate, water, soil—and in turn, define the character of these wines. Nowhere captures that mountain identity more clearly than the Uco Valley.

Sebastián Zuccardi was drawn to its quiet power, its stark beauty, and the distinct personality of each village. Polígonos is a tribute to that diversity—wines that map the valley’s many voices, from soil to slope to sky.

Each bottle reflects a unique origin, like the angular lines of a polygon—sharp, varied, and full of meaning. These are mountain wines with a sense of place in every sip.

Aging: Fermentation and aging in concrete vessels.

What the Critics Said

~94 Tim Atkin, Master of Wine

The pungent 2022 Polígonos Tupungato Sauvignon Blanc from La Carrera (but La Carrera is not yet an IG or appellation) is from a parral that is around 30 years old and planted at 1,550 meters above sea level, where the grapes have pungent flavors of fig. They started vinifying this in 2019 (but I never tasted it until today). It has a similitude with the one produced by Matias Riccitelli, with lots of aromatic herbs and pungent herbal notes, tomato vine, green peas and beans and citrus notes. It has very tasty flavors and is almost salty, with 12.5% alcohol and extremely high acidity (10.4) and freshness (pH 3.1). It fermented in concrete with some skin contact (very short) to extract the aromatic compounds from the skins but without making an orange wine. 5,300 bottles were filled in August 2022. Superb. It should develop nicely in bottle. ~93+ Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Polígonos de Valle de Uco Tupungato was fermented with skin contact. The aromas feature distinctive jalapeño-like notes with hints of tomato leaves and mint. On the palate, it's both fatty and refreshing, with a dry, concentrated flow that leads into a frisky, long-lasting herbal finish. An unusually flavorful continental Sauvignon Blanc. ~93 Vinous Media
