About the Wine

Menetou-Salon sits just southwest of Sancerre, sharing the same Kimmeridgian limestone soils, the same cool continental climate, and the same grape — Sauvignon Blanc — but without the famous name attached to the price tag. That's the open secret wine lovers have been quietly exploiting for years, and Louis Millet is one of the best reasons to do it.

The Louis Millet label comes from Domaine La Gemière, a family estate in Crézancy-en-Sancerre run by brothers Sébastien and Nicolas Millet. Their father Daniel built the cellar in 1981 on a piece of land they called "La Gemière," starting with just 8 hectares. Today the domaine covers 19 hectares, farmed with Terra Vitis and HVE3 sustainable certification — and the name "Louis Millet" is already reserved for the next generation waiting in the wings.

The Menetou-Salon Blanc is vinified entirely in stainless steel, with no oak influence, so what you're tasting is the terroir straight — the citrusy tension and chalky mineral backbone that Kimmeridgian limestone imparts to Sauvignon Blanc in this pocket of the Loire. Think of it as Sancerre's younger sibling: same DNA, same bones, and a whole lot of upside for the price.

Tasting Notes

100% Sauvignon Blanc.

Pale yellow with silver glints. The nose is vivid and expressive — citrus zest, grapefruit, and lime lead, followed by white flowers and a cool mineral streak.

On the palate, the wine is brisk and focused, with a lively acidity that carries ripe citrus fruit through to a clean, mineral-driven finish. Elegant floral notes linger alongside the characteristic chalky tension of the appellation. Fresh, precise, and built for the table.
