About The Wine

Antica Terra has been quietly building one of Oregon's most serious Pinot Noir programs since 2005, working vines first planted in 1989 in the Eola-Amity Hills. This is small-production, site-driven winemaking — 244 cases of the 2023 Adiona, releasing March 1st, 2026.

Eola-Amity Hills sits in the rain shadow of the Coast Range, where volcanic soils and the Van Duzer Corridor's cooling winds push Pinot Noir into a rare zone: ripe fruit with structure that holds. The 2023 vintage delivered both — Rainier cherry and clementine lifting off the glass, a palate that balances intensity with precision, and tannins so silky they dissolve into the fruit. The finish runs 45 seconds.

The wine shows deep garnet, medium-bodied, with pronounced acidity and a core of vivid red fruit wrapped in haunting spice. Herbal and savory notes — black olive, lavender, smoked meat, forest floor, morel mushroom — layer underneath dried black cherry and stewed plum. It's pretty and perfumed, but there's a broody, staining finish that hints at what another five years will do.

Four critics in the 92–95 range. James Suckling called it out for bright, beautiful floral and red fruit from one of the oldest Pinot vineyards in the AVA. This is the kind of Oregon Pinot that makes collectors take the region seriously.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

One of the oldest pinot noir vineyards in Eola-Amity Hills continues to impress year after year for its bright, beautiful floral and red fruit notes – and 2023 is no exception. ~95 James Suckling

THE PRODUCER

Antica Terra

Antica Terra was established in 2005 by Scott Adelson, John Mavredakis, and Michael Kramer. Vines were first planted in 1989 on the property, an 11 acre vineyard on pre-historic seabed in the Eola-Amity Hills of Oregon's Willamette Valley. Maggie Harrison became the winemaker after being convinced by the three partners to visit the property. Maggie Harrison decided to become a winemaker after an inspired moment during a nervous breakdown, after a bout with malaria, on an island off the coast of Kenya. Antica Terra is an 11 acre vineyard located on a rocky hillside in the Eola-Amity Hills of Oregon's Willamette Valley. The first vines were planted in 1989 in a clearing within the oak savannah.
