About The Wine

Brick House Vineyards has been Demeter Biodynamic certified since 2005, farming 45,000 vines on the southeast-facing slopes of Ribbon Ridge — a commitment that began when the first Pinot Noir vines went into the ground in 1990. Les Dijonnais comes from the estate's Dijon-clone blocks planted in 1995: 113, 114, 115, 667, and 777, the backbone clones that define serious Oregon Pinot.

The 2023 vintage brought bright, transparent fruit and electric aromatics. Hand-harvested between September 24th and 30th, the wine was fermented with 32% whole clusters on native yeast, then aged 18 months in French oak — 30% new. The result is a wine Jeb Dunnuck scored 95 points, calling out its "notes of fresh lavender, snappy black raspberry, fresh earth, wildflowers, and bright herbs" with a "long-lasting floral finish." Wine Advocate landed at 94, praising the "full-bodied palate with ripe, concentrated, earth-laced flavors" structured by "velvety tannins and juicy acidity."

Ribbon Ridge Pinot Noir at this level — biodynamic, estate-grown, from nearly 30-year-old Dijon vines — normally asks $80 to $120 a bottle. You're paying $64 for a six-pack. That's $10.67 per bottle for a wine that earned 95 points and will cellar beautifully for 15 years.

Just 565 cases were made. This is the kind of Pinot that makes you wonder why you ever bought anything else.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

The 2023 Pinot Noir Les Dijonnais boasts a bright, transparent red color, accompanied by an incredible perfume in its notes of fresh lavender, snappy black raspberry, fresh earth, wildflowers, and bright herbs. It’s long on the palate, with medium body and a long-lasting floral finish. ~95 Jeb Dunnuck

From vines planted in 1995, the 2023 Pinot Noir Les Dijonnais was fermented with 32% whole clusters and matured in 32% new French oak. The nose is bursting with raspberry, rhubarb, Earl Grey tea leaves, licorice and mushroom aromas. The full-bodied palate features ripe, concentrated, earth-laced flavors. It’s structured by velvety tannins and juicy acidity and has a long, spicy finish. ~ 94 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2023 Pinot Noir Les Dijonnais is darkly floral yet youthfully backward, showing nuances of Earl Grey, stone dust and dried black cherries. Juicy to the core, it sweeps across the palate with notes of ripe blackberry, a hint of citrus and sage. Grippy and long, the 2023 keeps the mouth watering for more, even as it finishes tense with edgy tannins that pinch at the cheeks. Patience will be required. ~93 Vinous Media

Vibrant and fresh, with pretty cherry and cranberry flavors that are laced with green tea and forest floor. Gathers tension and detail on the finish. ~ 93 Wine Spectator
