About The Wine

Just 4 miles away from Château Ausone and a few hundred yards from Valandraud, two of the finest and most popular Châteaux in the world, you’ll find Chateau de Pressac, an ancient estate that dates back to medieval times, when this property was first functioning as a fortress.

The name was given because back in 1737, with the current owners started planting the grape Noir de Pressac (aka Malbec). Today, this emblematic grape is used in all the Château’s wines.

Since 1997, this superb Château is owned by Jean Francois Quentin. He is responsible for transforming and modernizing the cellar and winemaking area. Jean Francois has been pushing for high-quality wine since his arrival. Jean Francois Quenin is a rockstar in Saint-Emilion. Besides owning this recognized Château, he’s also the President of the Union of Saint Emilion, Pomerol and Fronsac, and the President of the St. Emilion Wine Council. This man sure knows his land!

Set upon a hill overlooking the valley, Pressac covers a total of 103 acres located in Saint Emilion Grand Cru. With a beautiful terroir composed of limestone and clay soils, this estate and its planted with all the great Bordeaux queens. The vineyard, located in Saint Etienne de Lisse, (very close to Valandraud, Chateau Faugeres, and Chateau Fleur Cardinale,) follows sustainable practices, and was recently certified with HEV level 3.

It's very unlikely to find Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classified coming from a renowned Château like Pressac, but here it is, we did it for you! Extremely high quality at an amazing price.

A Saint-Émilion Grand Cru from an under-the-radar limestone estate, offered as a pre-arrival future.

Blackberry and blueberry over crushed stone, with rose petal, lavender, sage, and blood-orange lift. Medium-bodied, racy, and focused, with chalky minerality, fine tannins, and limestone-driven tension. One to cellar.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

Really refined and focused with blackberry, blueberry and crushed stone. Medium-bodied with class and tension. Racy. ~94-95 JS

The 2023 de Pressac is a compelling wine from one of Saint-Émilion's most under-the-radar properties. Inky red/purplish fruit, rose petal, lavender mint, sage and blood orange are all beautifully delineated. The 2023 exudes tension and limestone-infused energy. Pressac remains one of the most distinctive wines in all of Saint-Émilion. Tasted two times. ~92-94 AG-VM

The 2023 Chateau De Pressac is a beauty. Medium-bodied, focused, nicely concentrated, and elegant on the palate, it has ample red and black fruits, notes of spice and chalky minerality, background oak, and fine tannins that emerge on the finish. It's going to need a few years to integrate its oak, but this is impressive and should be long-lived. ~91-93+ JD

The 2023 Chateau de Pressac has a beautifully defined bouquet, with blackberry and wild strawberry fruit commingling with subtle floral scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. This is a classically styled Claret with freshness and light marine scents that defines the finish. A delightful Saint-Émilion in the making, this comes recommended. ~91-93 NM-VM
