Sometimes a wine transports you so completely you feel the altitude in your bones. This captures that moment when you finally reach the summit: cool mountain air swirling with damp stone while wild herbs catch the breeze. You bite into the apple you saved for this view, and everything makes perfect sense. The palate mirrors the landscape, where precise angles create something profound rather than severe. It's a reminder that true beauty often comes from nature's architecture, not its softness. A wine that makes you understand why people climb mountains in the first place. Drink Now - 2045 ~ 96 Wine Enthusiast
Medium bright straw yellow with light reflections. Aromas of pears, white peach and grapefruit on the nose, background with almonds and lime blossom, slightly smoky. Taut and full-bodied on the palate, with an animating drinking flow and a long finish with a surprising salinity.~93 Falstaff
A reductive and fragrant style with struck-match and grapefruit aromas, dairy and stone fruit. Light- to medium-bodied and bone-dry, it shows crisp acidity and silky texture without obvious lees-stirred character. Tight yet polished finish. Drink now. ~ 92 James Suckling
The 2023 Pinot Bianco mixes savory and sweet with an herbal thrust up front, contrasted by crushed apple and nuances of mint. It is densely packed yet fresh, with ripe orchard fruits and a strong mineral undercurrent. The 2023 leaves candied citrus and chamomile while finishing with fantastic length. ~90 Vinous Media

What the Critics Said
THE PRODUCER
Falkenstein Winery
Falkenstein sits above Naturns on the Vinschgau Sonnenberg, in the far west of South Tyrol. The Pratzner family farmed apples here before turning to wine, and bottled their first Alto Adige DOC vintage in 1995. Fourteen hectares now, on steep south-facing primary rock between 550 and 900 meters, mostly white varieties with a small block of Pinot Noir. Riesling is the flagship. The Pinot Bianco is why people keep coming back.
