About The Wine

Eleven generations of the Bourgeois family have farmed the hillsides around Chavignol, and Jadis is where they put their best fruit to work. The name means "days gone by" — a nod to the ancient seabed still fossilized in the soil here, oyster shells and all.

This isn't a stainless-steel, drink-it-cold-and-forget-it Sancerre. The Sauvignon Blanc spends a full year in 600-liter oak barrels, with regular stirring of the lees to build texture. The result is a fuller, rounder white than most Sancerre you'll find — still built on that region's signature minerality, just with more weight behind it.

Organic-certified, single-cuvée, and made to be taken seriously. Pour it for someone who thinks they already know what Sancerre tastes like.

100% Sauvignon Blanc. Bright green-gold in the glass, with an expressive nose of exotic fruit, green mango, citrus and a touch of honey and menthol. The palate is powerful and round — full-bodied for the appellation — carrying ripe citrus and a saline, oyster-shell edge from the Kimmeridgian marl. Sharp minerality keeps it refreshing through a long, precise finish. Drinks well now, with cellaring potential through 6–8 years.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

Grapefruit, mango pits, subtle sandalwood and jasmine aromas follow through to an elegant yet firm palate. Full-bodied with spicy and salty nuances. Drink or hold. ~93 James Suckling
