About the Wine

Named for the ancient Etruscan settlement discovered on the historic Badia a Coltibuono estate, Cetamura is a wine deeply rooted in the heritage of the Tuscan landscape. The estate itself is a place of profound history, serving as a former abbey where monks first cultivated the vine nearly a millennium ago. Today, the Stucchi Prinetti family continues this tradition, acting as stewards of the land since 1846 and maintaining a lineage of winemakers that stretches back to 1051. Since 1988, they have meticulously selected the finest Sangiovese grapes to craft a wine that captures the youthful energy and authentic spirit of this sacred terroir.

On the palate, the 2023 Cetamura is remarkably crisp and juicy, defined by the bright acidity and succulent red fruit notes that make Sangiovese world-renowned. Produced with a commitment to organic viticulture and respect for the environment, it is a wine designed for immediate enjoyment—refreshing, pleasant, and full of life. Its vibrant character makes it an incredibly versatile companion at the table, effortlessly complementing everything from classic Italian pasta and wood-fired pizzas to contemporary international cuisine.

Whether you are sharing a casual weeknight meal or hosting a spontaneous gathering with friends, this Chianti is crafted to be your perfect everyday selection. It represents the seamless balance between the prestigious history of Badia a Coltibuono—from its monastic roots to its modern status as a premier wine resort—and a contemporary, approachable style. Discover the effortless elegance of Tuscany in every glass and experience a wine that truly elevates the simplest moments of your day.

Tasting Notes

100% Sangiovese. Intense bright ruby red, cherry nose with floral nuances. Well-balanced, soft but tasty, with good structure. Pleasant acidity, clean and persistent aftertaste.

Critical Reviews

This has a savory character with crushed red berries, dried herbs, hints of grapefruit peel and wet stones. Medium-bodied, vibrant and crunchy with a touch of white pepper, dusty tannins and a tense, juicy profile. Appealing and easy to drink. ~91 James Suckling
