About The Wine

The Bennati family winery was founded at the end of the first world war in 1920.

The Bennati legacy began in 1870 with Antonio Bennati, a winemaking figure so celebrated for his Recioto that the village nicknamed him 'Toni Recioto.' His grandson Annibale formalized the family's craft in 1920, founding the winery that now flourishes under fourth-generation brothers Paolo and Giorgio. For over a century, the family has translated Veneto's terroir into wines that punch well above their price.

Veneto is Italy's fruit bowl — warm days, cool alpine nights, and limestone-fed soils that give structure to everything from Valpolicella to this Cabernet. The Gadum cuvee is Bennati's play on international fruit done the Italian way: bright, structured, and built for the table, not the spreadsheet.

The 2024 was soft-crushed at low temperature, fermented in stainless at a cool 23°C, and spent a week on skins to extract color and tannin without bitterness. Four months in stainless preserved the fruit; a month in bottle knit it together. The result is a wine that drinks like it costs twice what it does.

Bright ruby in the glass, with redcurrant, forest berries, and a whisper of herb on the nose. Soft entry, mouth-filling mid-palate, enough tannin to anchor a steak, and a finish that lingers. This is the kind of everyday Cabernet that makes you wonder why you've been overpaying.

THE PRODUCER

Bennati

Bennati Winery was established in 1920 by Annibale Bennati. The Bennati legacy began with Antonio Bennati, born in 1870, the founding figure of the family's winemaking tradition. Antonio Bennati gained acclaim for his exquisite Recioto and earned the nickname 'Toni (=Antonio) Recioto'. The winery now flourishes under the stewardship of Paolo and Giorgio Bennati, representing the fourth generation of the family. Since 1920 the winery has tried to express the poetry of the Veronese terroir.
