About The Wine

“Sancerre is home to some of France's tangiest, most thirst-quenching white wines, made from Sauvignon Blanc.” ~Wine Spectator.

We love Sancerre, and so do some of the most celebrated wine critics in the world, like Robert Parker who described Sancerre as "a beacon of purity and precision,” or Wine Enthusiast who said it is "the epitome of elegant white wines.”

Michelle and Jean-Michel Masson founded Domaine Masson-Blondelet in 1975, uniting two Loire winegrowing families and their cru holdings across Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre.

In 1980 they dug a three-level cellar in the heart of Pouilly to work entirely by gravity, and the estate has since become known for one thing above all: the purest possible expression of Sauvignon Blanc. The family has farmed without chemical fertilizers for more than four decades and without herbicides or insecticides since 2002, and the seventh generation — Pierre-François in the vineyards and Mélanie in the cellar — now carries that philosophy forward across 21 hectares of south- and southeast-facing slopes cooled by the Loire.

Though the domaine is most famous for its Pouilly-Fumé, this Sancerre comes from its holding across the river in the village of Thauvenay — a small plot of chalky, Portlandian-flinty soils from vines planted between 1985 and 2002.

Pressed gently and fermented in stainless steel to keep the fruit pristine, it's a crisp, mineral-driven Sancerre layered with white fruit and citrus, lifted by the flinty energy these soils are prized for. Bright, elegant and versatile, it's a wine to enjoy young and pour throughout a meal.
