About The Wine

Finca La Carrodilla is one of only two wineries in Mexico to hold both organic and biodynamic certification — and they've held that distinction since 2009, when founder Fernando Perez Castro set out to build the reference estate for sustainable viticulture in Valle de Guadalupe.

The winemaker is Gustavo Gonzalez, a UC Davis–trained enologist who spent the early 2000s as head winemaker for Sassicaia, one of Italy's most celebrated Super Tuscans.

The 'Ir y Venir' Sauvignon Blanc — the name translates to 'to go and to come,' a nod to the cyclical rhythm of organic farming — is the entry point to Carrodilla's white program, and it's designed to be a crisp, naked expression of the fruit and the land.

The 2024 vintage benefited from a cold, wet winter that kept the vines dormant until early spring, followed by ample sunlight and a balanced growing season. The result is a wine with elegance and vigor, lighter on the tropical weight you'll find in most Valle de Guadalupe Sauvignon Blancs.

Minimal-intervention winemaking lets the grape do the talking. High citrus — lemon, lemongrass, grapefruit — layered with white peach, fresh-cut lawn, and honeydew melon.

The mouthfeel is light and crisp, the acids bright, the finish smooth. It's the kind of Sauvignon Blanc that makes you question why you're paying twice as much for something with a French label.

This is a wine that will age gracefully for four to five years, but it's also ready to drink tonight.

Pull the cork for seafood, light salads, or a wheel of tangy goat cheese — or just drink it on its own and enjoy what certified biodynamic farming tastes like when a former Sassicaia winemaker is running the cellar.
