About The Wine

Hacienda La Lomita sits on a northwestern-facing slope in Valle de Guadalupe, nine miles from the Pacific, founded in 2009 by Fernando Perez Castro on some of the region's oldest vines.

The estate has been certified organic since 2012 — a rarity in Baja — and is helmed by winemaker Gustavo Gonzalez, who spent the early 2000s as head winemaker for Italy's legendary Super Tuscan Masseto.

Valle de Guadalupe's proximity to the Pacific brings cool maritime fog that slows ripening and keeps Cabernet Sauvignon acidity bright while building structured tannins — the reason Baja fruit at this price point can punch well above its weight against Napa Valley bottles that cost three times as much.

This 2024 Cabernet Sauvignon delivers the kind of depth and focus you'd expect from a dark fruit, structured tannins, and the cool-climate backbone that makes it drink now or hold.

The six-pack format is the play here: bottles of organic, terroir-driven Cabernet from a winemaker who made one of Italy's most legendary wines.

THE PRODUCER

Hacienda La Lomita

Hacienda La Lomita was founded in 2009 by Fernando Pérez Castro in the heart of Valle de Guadalupe, Baja, Mexico, north of Ensenada and approximately nine miles from the Pacific near the village of San Antonio de las Minas.

The winery and its estate vineyards are on a northwestern-facing slope in the ejido of Francisco Zarco. The estate grows some of the region's oldest vines. The estate has practiced organic viticulture since 2012 and is one of the region's few certified organic wineries.

The vineyard sits at about 1,000 feet in elevation with a soil profile consisting of a mix of clay and granite. Hacienda la Lomita was built just past San Antonio de las Minas, between the hills of the community of San Marcos.
