About The Wine

Liquid Farm has quietly become one of Santa Barbara's most respected producers, working top sites in the Sta. Rita Hills with an Old World sensibility that's rare in California. The Golden Slope is their richer, more concentrated Chardonnay cuvee — barrels pulled for depth and texture rather than the leaner, more mineral White Hill bottling. It's nicknamed "Goldilox" for a reason: impeccable balance of richness and fresh acidity, nothing overplayed.

The fruit was whole cluster pressed, fermented with native yeasts, and put through full malolactic, then aged fifteen months in French oak — about 15% new. Fined but never filtered. The resulting wine is reminiscent of some favorites from Meursault: layered, textural, a kiss of oak that supports rather than dominates.

In the glass, it's succulent and mouthwatering. Golden yellow apple, pineapple, chamomile, baking spices, white flowers, chalky acids — the kind of Chardonnay that makes you rethink what California can do when it stops trying to be Napa and starts thinking like Burgundy. Sta. Rita Hills brings fog, Pacific influence, and diurnal swings that preserve acidity even as the fruit ripens fully.

This is the 2024 — first vintage in the market. It'll drink beautifully now and hold for several years, gaining complexity as it goes. If you've been looking for a California Chardonnay that doesn't taste like a tropical fruit bomb, this is it.
