About The Wine

Platt Vineyard Estate makes its debut under the stewardship of AXA Millesimes and Christian Seely — the French luxury wine group behind Pichon Baron, Suduiraut, and Quinta do Noval. This is their first vintage from a meticulously farmed estate in California's West Sonoma Coast AVA, where cool Pacific fog and rocky soils produce some of the state's most refined, Burgundian-style Pinot Noir.

The 2024 vintage arrived late and cool. Bountiful winter rains gave way to a foggy spring that delayed budbreak by three to four weeks. The extended hang time — harvest ran from October 4th to October 26th — allowed for full phenolic maturation at relatively low alcohol levels, with no heat spikes to compromise berry integrity. The result is a wine with serious tension, mineral drive, and the kind of purity that defines cool-climate Pinot.

In the glass, this is muscular and tightly coiled. Dark berries, lavender, and sage open into layers of black fruit, blood orange, licorice, pine needle, and violets. The mid-palate gains weight from ripe skin tannins and a whisper of polished oak, finishing with class and restraint. Despite its inherent tension, the wine remains juicy and accessible — a rare balance of power and finesse.

This is Sonoma Coast Pinot from a pedigreed estate, made by people who know how to make wine matter. Second vintage. AXA backing. Cool-climate precision. The kind of bottle that announces a serious new player.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

Wow. This is crazy pinot with wild blackberry and dark truffle, with oyster shell and dark earth character on both the nose and palate. Medium-bodied with density and vibrancy but stays. Flint and black pepper tones at the end. A unique coastal pinot that stays with you. Contemplative pinot. Drink or hold- ~ 97 James Suckling

THE PRODUCER

Platt Vineyard

In the 1980s, Kendall-Jackson rejected the California wine industry's trend toward vineyard-specific wine labeling. Kendall-Jackson ignored the concept of terroir in favor of blending wines from different regions to achieve desired wine characteristics. Kendall-Jackson reversed that direction in the mid-2000s, along with a push to upgrade their quality. The label now continues under the umbrella company, Jackson Family Wines, that Jackson later created. In late 2006, the Jackson family launched White Rocket Wine Co. in Napa Valley to target the millennial generation of wine drinkers.
