About The Wine

Weinkultur Preiss is a family-run, certified-organic estate in Theyern, in the Traisental — Austria's smallest major wine region, a pocket of terraced vineyards south of the Danube. The estate is a rising star: its Ried Rosengarten Grüner Veltliner took Falstaff's Traisental DAC Cup in 2024.

The Kammerling series is named for the tiny chambered marine microfossils — 'Kämmerlinge' — found in the 15-million-year-old Hollenburg-Karlstetten conglomerate on which the vines grow, a lime-rich bed of consolidated gravels, sands and marls. Ernst Haeckel's famous drawings of these single-celled organisms appear on the label: the soil, literally, is the brand.

This Sauvignon Blanc is the cool-climate, bone-dry expression of that terroir — vivid, herbal and mineral-saline, fermented dry and finished under screwcap for purity.
