About The Wine

Sancerre sits on limestone-rich soils along the Loire, a site so distinctive it earned AOC status in 1936. The region's cool climate and chalky terroir produce some of the world's most precise, mineral-driven Sauvignon Blanc — wines that define the grape's high end.

Sager & Verdier sources from south-facing slopes in Sancerre, where vines averaging 25 years old dig into terres blanches — the mineral, clay-limestone soils that the Loire has been eroding and reshaping for centuries. This continental pocket sits nearly 300 miles from the Atlantic, giving it a climate more akin to Burgundy than the rest of the Loire — tighter, more focused, with a minerality that no warmer region can replicate.

This 2024 bottling is true to its terroir: crisp, elegant, and vibrant, with the kind of clarity that comes from cool-climate fruit and careful winemaking. Pneumatic pressing allows soft, regulated extraction; cold skin maceration and slow fermentation at low temperatures in stainless steel preserve the bright, intense aromatics Sancerre is known for.

On the nose, you'll find lemon and lime, elderflower, verbena, tropical fruits, peach, and gooseberry — backed by that distinctive minerality.

The palate brings cut grass, asparagus, mineral, apple, and citrus, all balanced by razor-sharp acidity. This is Sauvignon Blanc doing what it does best: clean, expressive, and unmistakably from somewhere.
