About The Wine

Sicily knows how to make a wine that punches above its weight, and Biddizza — 'beauty' in the local dialect — delivers exactly that. This is a skin-contact Catarratto-Zibibbo blend from organic vineyards, bottled unfined and unfiltered in a full liter.

Catarratto is Sicily's workhorse white grape, grown on iron-rich limestone soils in the island's northwest. Zibibbo — the local name for Muscat of Alexandria — adds aromatic lift. The grapes spent roughly 15 days macerating on their skins, just long enough to build that glowing amber color and a light, approachable grip. After eight months settling on the fine lees in stainless steel, it was bottled with minimal sulfites and zero filtration.

The wine hits like mandarin in a peach-fuzz coat, with apricot jam playing sidekick. Sharp, electric brightness cuts through the sweetness like Sicilian sun on your face after morning chill. The finish is long, dry, tinged with herbs and sea — tethered to its Mediterranean roots. Fresh fennel, dried orange, and a savory mineral backbone keep it from ever feeling sweet or heavy.

This is the kind of orange wine that doesn't demand reverence — it just asks for good company and a table full of food. Pull the cork on anything with fat and salt: roasted fish, aged cheese, grilled vegetables, cured meat. Or drink it on its own and let Sicily do the talking.

THE PRODUCER

Biddizza

Biddizza is a modern Sicilian wine project focused on expressive, low-intervention wines that capture the warmth and character of the island’s Mediterranean terroir. The name “Biddizza” means “beauty” in Sicilian dialect, and the project is connected to TASI Wines, a younger venture supported by the fourth-generation Fasoli Gino family, whose winemaking roots date back to 1925. Biddizza’s wines are made from organically farmed grapes, with a focus on native varieties and natural winemaking techniques. Its signature Catarratto is fermented with native yeasts and left on its skins, creating a vibrant orange wine with ripe stone-fruit flavors, citrus, herbs, freshness, and a distinctive Sicilian character.
