About The Wine

Forget everything you think you know about rosé. If your mental picture is a pale, delicate summer sipper, Tavel rewrites the rulebook — and Domaine Pélaquié makes one of its finest examples.

This is a bold, dry, structured rosé with real depth, the kind of pink wine that holds its own at the dinner table instead of fading into the background.

Tavel is the only appellation in all of France dedicated entirely to rosé, and it has been famous for it since the 14th century, when these wines graced the Pope's table in Avignon.

The grapes — Grenache and Cinsault — grow on sun-drenched limestone plateaus scattered with round river stones, swept by the Mediterranean sun and the famous Mistral wind. That terroir is what gives the wine its richness and intensity.

The Pélaquié family has farmed this same corner of the Southern Rhône since the 16th century.

Today Luc Pélaquié runs the 100-hectare estate with sustainable, HVE-certified farming, handling everything from the vineyard to the bottle himself.

The result is a rosé with genuine pedigree at a price that makes it an easy everyday luxury.

A deep, brilliant salmon-pink color hints at the intensity to come. The nose offers red fruits and stone fruits lifted by notes of almond and warm spice.

On the palate it's round, generous, and full — fruit-forward but dry, with the structure and length that set Tavel apart from lighter, simpler rosés. Best enjoyed young, fresh, and well-chilled.
