About The Wine

White Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the Rhône's best-kept secrets — only a small fraction of the appellation's production is white, and most of it never leaves France. Belle Amie is Guillaume Gonnet's answer: a white CdP from 50–90-year-old vines in the Cru du Bois lieu-dit, where sand, clay and limestone soils are strewn with the appellation's famous surface pebbles.

Guillaume Gonnet, a third-generation Châteauneuf winemaker, has run the family estate in Courthézon since 2006 with his Australian sommelier wife, Kelly. The fruit is hand-harvested and organically farmed, then vinified entirely in stainless steel with no oak and no malolactic fermentation — a deliberately fresh, mineral take on a wine that is too often heavy.

Drink it young for its stony cut and white flowers, or hold it: with age, Belle Amie develops honeyed, nutty complexity.

Gorgeous stony, mineral notes with citrus and white flowers; a saline, chiseled palate built on old-vine Clairette and Grenache Blanc, finishing long and fresh.
