About The Wine

Pigoudet is a family-run Provence estate with roots back to the 16th century — a place the Romans chose for vines, managed for centuries by the Archdiocese of Aix-en-Provence, and now stewarded for more than 30 years by the Rabe family (formerly the Schmidts, who purchased it in 1992). Two generations work the land today, farming sustainably and honoring the estate's long history.

The 2025 "Premiere" is made the serious way: saignee method, natural yeast fermentation, fruit from 35-year-old vines. The blend — grenache, cinsault, cabernet sauvignon, and syrah — is classic Provence architecture, but the depth here punches above the $22.99 price. This is the kind of rose that drinks against bottles asking $35.

The 2025 vintage in Provence brought higher acidity, better water reserves, and less heat than recent years — a cooler hand that favored precise, focused producers. Lesser estates turned out lean, one-dimensional wines; Pigoudet leaned into the vintage's linear energy and delivered a rose with real structure. The color is gorgeous light pink with bluish undertones. The nose is expressive and fresh — white peach, lichee, citrus, subtle strawberry, floral aromatics. The palate stays crisp and mineral, light-bodied and bone-dry, with the kind of focus that makes cheap rose taste like pink water.

Perfect as an aperitif with friends, with a summer salad, or before an afternoon nap in the garden. The kind of bottle you open once and then buy by the case.

THE PRODUCER

Pigoudet Provence

The estate dates back to the 16th century. The estate was purchased in 1992 by Germans Bernhard and Elke Schmidt. It is still a family-run estate with two generations running the estate. A place already chosen by the Romans to plant their vines. Managed for a few centuries by the Archdiocese of Aix-en-Provence. Divided into several parcels after the revolution. The area has been about the same since the year 1820. For more than 30 years in the ownership of the Rabe family. Turned to excellence by Sabine Rabe and her husband, Hans-Ulrich. Château Pigoudet is one of the most renowned vineyards for the quality of its products in the region, in particular for its recognizable rosés.
