About The Wine

Boschendal has been farming its vineyards between Groot Drakenstein and Simonsberg for over three centuries — that's 340 years of mastering Stellenbosch terroir.

In 1981, the estate became a pioneer in South Africa's Cap Classique movement, sparkling wine made in the methode champenoise with local grapes. Winemaker Danielle Coetsee now oversees six distinctive expressions, each reflecting a style refined across generations: elegant, expressive, unmistakably Boschendal.

This Brut bottling blends Pinot Noir and Chardonnay — the classic Champagne pairing — with a South African twist: a touch of Pinotage, the beloved local hybrid, honoring the region's spirit. Extended aging on the lees builds a creamy, well-rounded palate with mouthwatering minerality and seamless balance.

In the glass, expect pale gold with delicate bubbles and a saline perfume that overlays raspberries, peaches, and a sourdough edge. Grapefruit tang leads into a lively, citrus-driven palate with lovely length and bright acidity — think lemon cream, almond biscotti, and appealing freshness.

Pull the cork for fresh oysters, panko-crusted prawns with lemon-garlic aioli, or gourmet mac and cheese with parmesan and pancetta. Or drink it well chilled on its own, because life is too short to save the good bottles.

Pearly bubbles carry flavours of lemon, lime, crunchy pear and apple peel. With unpretentious elegance, this traditional method South African fizz delivers a classy pour at great value. Vibrant acidity lifts the palate and adds freshness to the slightly nutty finish. ~ 90 Decanter

A fresh and lively white with sliced-apple and lemon character on the nose and the palate. Medium to full body, bright acidity and a driven finish. Drink now. ~ 90 James Suckling
