Are you interested and curious to armchair travel to NE Spain, about two hours west of Barcelona. This is a classic, elegant, and wildly interesting red blend that will capture your attention right off the nose. The wine is cherry red in color. The label reveals the "galena" or large pebbles and stones that litter the vineyards where the grapes for this wine are grown. While Grenache and Cab may be the stars here, it is the native varietal Samsó which bring the diversity and intrigue. Flavors of mature forest floor, wild berries with young balsamic notes lead to a symphonic finish with chocolate and vanilla. This is really a $40 value at 50% off.
Consider this wine with any meat dish or tapa.
Ageing: 12 months in French (80%) and American (20%) oak barrels.
Blend: Grenache noir (50%), Cabernet Sauvignon (35%), Samsó (15%)
