About the Wine

Gremillet is a legacy of authenticity, simplicity, and relentless pursuit of excellence. The Gremillet family’s journey began in 1979, with a dream to create a champagne that would grace the most prestigious gatherings around the world. Today, that dream is a reality, with Gremillet Champagne proudly served in over fifty embassies and consulates worldwide.

What makes Gremillet Sélection Brut truly exceptional is its ability to capture the essence of success. Whether you're toasting to a job well done, a challenge overcome, or a goal reached, this Champagne is there to elevate the moment. It's not just about the bubbles in the glass; it's about the memories you create with each sip.

Located in the heart of the Côte des Bars, the Gremillet estate spans 48 hectares of prime champagne-growing land. The terroir, with its limestone soils and sunny slopes, is predominantly planted with Pinot Noir (85%), which gives Gremillet Sélection Brut its powerful and fruity character. The remaining vineyards are devoted to Chardonnay, adding finesse and freshness to the blend. This harmonious combination results in a champagne that is both vibrant and elegant, with an irresistible allure that keeps you coming back for more.

The Gremillet family’s philosophy is beautifully captured in their distinctive metal cap, which features the words “Al andar se hace camino” (Walker, you make the path as you go) by Machado. This ascending motif represents the path of life—a journey of perseverance, optimism, and success.

Tasting Notes

70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay. A pretty pale golden yellow in color rippling with fine, persistent bubbles. Bright, luminous and limpid. The nose evokes happiness - a lively alliance of delicious floral and fruity notes, of acacia, hawthorn, peach, pear and apricot. The taste is pleasant and refreshing with a nice balance of acidity and maturity. The same fruit components and deliciousness of the nose are found again on the palate, along with toasted and spiced notes.

Critical Reviews

Accomplished wine with a plethora of red fruits and a citric, spice, plum, petrichor and flint undercurrent, plus palpable grip. Good development potential. ~94 Decanter

A most attractive Champagne that marries freshness with mature richness on the ample, yet crisp palate. Stacks of berry fruit and some mandarin orange. Long, harmoniously dry finish with a wonderful brightness that pulls you back for more. Drink now. ~92 James Suckling

Pale gold color, slightly amber. Very clear nose of small red fruits, raspberry tone. On the palate a fleshy, fruity attack, where we find the same freshness and dynamism. A crunchy vintage that will appeal to all lovers. ~92 Gilbert & Gaillard

This is the nonvintage cuvée from this family company in the Aube region. It has perfumed white fruits with a ripe and lightly structured feel from the Pinot Noir in the blend. It is a very accessible Champagne that is ready to drink. ~90 Wine Enthusiast

Hints of toasted brioche, crème de cassis and preserved lemon are carried on the creamy mousse of this bright and balanced Champagne. Smoky finish. Drink now. 250 cases imported. ~90 Wine Spectator

What the Critics Said

THE PRODUCER

Gremillet

Founded in 1979 by Jean-Michel Gremillet with just a single hectare of vines, Champagne Gremillet has grown into a bold, family-run house making serious waves from the Aube region.

Today, the second generation—his children, Anne and Jean-Christophe Gremillet—are at the helm, pushing boundaries while staying true to their roots. Nestled just south of Épernay, their vineyards turn out crisp, expressive Champagnes that punch well above their weight. This isn’t stuffy, old-school fizz. It’s fresh, elegant, and built for modern celebrations. Gremillet isn’t just keeping up with tradition. They’re redefining it—one bottle at a time.
