About the Wine

Both as a wine grower and aficionado, Franco M. Martinetti has always approached wine with patience, knowledge and care. Although his career began not in wine but advertising, all along he followed his passion for food and wine and started making his own wine in 1974. These wines deeply reflect Franco's personality: a combination of innate charm, experience and determination. His two sons Guido and Michele work alongside him, overseeing oenology and sales respectively. Now more than ever, with the help of Guido and Michele, the lineup of this self-dubbed "wine-breeder" has attained an astonishing level of quality. The only Italian to become a member of the Académie du Vin de France, Franco Martinetti has been president of the Académie Internationale du Vin since 2003 From Gavi to Barolo, all Martinetti wines show unmistakable elegance and an impressive gourmet character, in keeping with the man's fame in international wine circles. Franco aspires to perfection, as evident in his meticulous supervision of every stage of the winemaking process from vineyard to bottle. Martinetti produces 26,000 bottles per year. These complex wines are elegant, exquisitely balanced and powerfully linked to their Piemonte homeland, yet able to satisfy fully the highest expectations of good taste internationally.

Blend: 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, aged 40 months on lees.

Produced in the methode champenoise, the wine was finished with a liqueur d'expedition prior to bottling with 1943 Bas Armagnac. There is a floral fragrance and quince and light almond marzipan to the wine. This is truly a wine for the curious. It's delicious.

Quarantatre will be enjoyed happily with a lobster, a bed of raw wild mushrooms or a 24 month old Parmigiano.
