About the Wine

According to UNESCO, within the Piedmont region, specifically in La Morra exists "An exceptional living testimony to the historical tradition of grape growing and the winemaking processes.”

This land produces some of the best Barolos in the world. Inside this region lies La Bussia Monforte d'Alba, the birthplace of this stunning wine.

Stroppiana is a family-owned and operated winery that's been producing world-class Barolo since 1960. They control everything from vineyard to cellar and are committed to producing high-quality, traditional wines that come from the best grapes. Their small winery cultivates roughly 13 1/2 acres of vineyards making them a small production winery with limited access to every bottle.

According to James Suckling, Barolo's 2015 Vintage is considered one of the bests of recent years, alongside the spectacular 2010 vintage. He called it a "vintage to celebrate" stating that Barolos resulted in vibrant wines with red fruit flavors, showing balance.” and concluded how 95 Point review, saying that it was "just a proper classic vintage."

Aging: Slavonian oak barrels for 36 months.

Tasting Notes100% Nebbiolo. This Nebbiolo, often compared to a precious garnet stone, exhibits a velvety texture, high tannins, powerful notes of cherry, plum, and violet with sweet spices of tobacco and cocoa, and aging notes of white truffle. This is the perfect Nebbiolo to pair with fresh game, red meat, and mature cheeses.

Reviews

Rich aromas of dried cherries and rose petals with hints of forest floor and bark. Full-bodied with velvety, fruit and spice-coated tannins and a twist of orange peel and rather bitter herb keeping the long finish fresh. Still firm at the end. Drinkable now with food, but will be better after 2022. ~92 James Suckling.

Lush, intense, and quite meaty. Rich, brawny, leathery, and fleshy with big ripe tannin and a savory finish. ~90 Decanter.
