Nestled in the heart of the Trentino region, a province renowned for its stunning alpine landscapes and ideal viticultural conditions, the 2015 Tenute Lunelli Villa Margon Chardonnay exemplifies the elegance and character of this remarkable terroir.

The province of Trentino, part of the Trentino-Alto Adige region, is celebrated for its dramatic mountain peaks and high-altitude vineyards. With the Dolomite Alps forming a natural barrier that protects vineyards from harsh weather and channels warm air currents, the area offers an exceptional microclimate for grape growing.

Tenuta Margon, named after the 16th-century Villa Margon—a majestic estate known for its frescoed beauty—sits amidst these high hills, with vineyards ranging from 350 to 600 meters above sea level. The soil, rich in sand and rocks, coupled with significant diurnal temperature shifts, imparts complexity, intensity, and vibrant acidity to the grapes. This unique combination of factors creates the ideal conditions for cultivating the Chardonnay grape, which thrives in this environment.

The Lunelli family, renowned for their illustrious Ferrari Trento sparkling wines, has extended their passion for winemaking to still wines through their Tenute Lunelli estates. With a heritage rooted in excellence, the family’s commitment to sustainable and organic viticulture is reflected in every bottle.

The estate has been awarded 'Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year' for the sixth time at the Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships. And they've achieved winning 9 gold and 3 silver medals in 2023. Their consistent success underscores the exceptional quality of wines produced in the Trentino mountains, a legacy dating back over 120 years.

The Tenute Lunelli project began in the 1980s and includes three estates across Italy: Tenuta Margon in Trentino, Tenuta Podernovo in Tuscany, and Tenuta Castelbuono in Umbria. Each estate is dedicated to expressing its unique terroir, and Tenuta Margon is no exception.

The 2015 Villa Margon Chardonnay is a testament to the Lunelli family's artisanal approach. This wine is crafted from grapes grown in sustainably farmed vineyards surrounding Villa Margon. Certified organic since 2017, the estate employs traditional methods such as the “Trentino pergola” and Guyot training systems to ensure the highest quality.

Tasting Notes

100% Chardonnay. Brilliant golden yellow color. Aromas of ripe apple, pear, and citrus, with hints of honey, toasted almonds, and vanilla. On the palate, the wine reveals a rich and creamy texture balanced by vibrant acidity and flavors of ripe stone fruits and subtle oak. The finish is elegant and long, with a touch of minerality. Perfect for pairing with seafood, poultry, or creamy pasta dishes.
