About the Wine
"This is likely to become a memorable Frederic Emile. So much so, in fact, that it's currently impossible to choose between it and the more famous Clos Sainte Hune. ~Vinous Media.
Trimbach is Riesling’s Top Alsace producer. If you want to discover the true power and aging capacity of a high-quality Riesling, Maison Trimbach should be at the top of your list. This Maison is crafting some of the most exceptional Rieslings in the world.
Wine Spectator said, “In Alsace, although most wines tend to be dry and fuller-bodied than their German counterparts, Trimbach's house style is quite the opposite: graceful and intense, with an austere character.”
This Maison has been around since the 16th century when the Trimbach family arrived from Switzerland. Twelve generations of disruptive winemakers have impregned their expertise into Trimbach. Today, Pierre Trimbach, an enologist who graduated from Beaune, is leading this world-renowned estate.
Trimbach’s location couldn’t be more perfect. Its semi-continental weather brings extreme temperatures, with very cold winters, which are optimal for high-quality Riesling to thrive. The soil is composed of marl-limestone-sandstone and shell limestone (Muschelkalk), which gives Trimbach's wines a remarkable personality.
The 140-acre vineyard is planted with vines of 45 years of age on average. They’re distributed in some of the best terroirs in Alsace: Ribeauvillé, Bergheim y Hunawihr. Each of them provides different and exciting characteristics to the wines.
Trimbach’s vineyards are managed under sustainable practices and certified by the HVE3. For more than 10 years, they’ve been doing fully organic viticulture.
A dry and powerful Riesling, underlined by a mineral note and with finely chopped acidity. This Riesling is meant to age, and after 8 years, it's perfect to drink today. With Antonio Galloni comparing this wine to the $400 single vineyard Clos St. Hune, you'll be lucky to have this wine at less than 1/4 of the price.

Critical Reviews
Very complex white with slate, stone, light petrol, and smoke aromas. Lemon fruit. Full body, yet vivid and intense. Shows some phenolic tension yet brightness and intensity at the end. A gorgeous 2015. Drink or hold. ~95 James Suckling
The 2015 Riesling Cuvée Frédéric Emile is clear and intense but highly refined on the nose that perfectly blends mineral with concentrated lemon and smoky flavors. Round, concentrated and very elegant on the palate, this is a slightly sweeter than normal Riesling, but it is highly finessed, well-structured and perfectly salty with a long and tension-filled finish. Fine tannins reflect the limestone/marl terroir of the Geisberg Grand Cru with the southeast-facing Osterberg Grand Cru. The 2015 will not go on the market earlier than 2022. ~95 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
