About the Wine

In 2001 Anne-Marie and Bernard Forestier bought the castle and its estate, which was previously maintained by the Alban family who still helps to maintain the estate. Until 2011, the Chateau Juvenal's production was done at the Balma Venitia cellar. Their Château Juvenal cuvée has won several awards from the Hachette guide. 

In 2011, Anne-Marie and Bernard Forestier joined forces with Sébastien Alban. The two families joined forces and built the cellars of Château Juvenal. In September 2011, Sébastien vinified the first vintage at the new chateau. Philippe Cambie, who was voted best oenologist of the year 2010 by Robert Parker, helps Sébastien and the wine production team at Chateau Juvenal.

Set on the southern foothills of Graveyron, a small Provençal hill in Comtat Venaissin, its sloping soil is a clay-limestone gravel pit enjoying maximum sunshine. The terroir of the estate is excellent! The Perseides bottling comes from 50 to 70-year-old vine Grenache. 

Tasting Notes

100% Grenache. Juicy and forward black cherry and grapey nose; very primary; Jammy blackberry, wildflowers, pepper, and mild garrigue flavors; the wine is fresh and clean with a calcaire edge and loads of aging potential.

Critical Reviews

Lastly, the 2016 Vin de France Perseides is made from 100% Grenache, from tiny yields, that was raised all in tank. It’s a naked, full-bodied, sexy beauty that’s loaded with red and black fruits, garrigue, and peppery spices. It tastes like the essence of the south of France and is a gorgeous wine that will keep for 5-7 years, probably longer. The 2016 VdF Perseides de Juvenal is a stainless-steel expression of old-vine Grenache, featuring black-cherry fruit, ample weight and richness on the palate, and a vibrant, silky finish. It should drink well for at least the next few years. ~92 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
