The Franz Keller estate is more than just a winery, there is a strong push for natural preservation of the landscape here. Since Franz Keller Sr. first started the winery, he always pushed for a more nature respecting approach to his winemaking style. Now 60 years later, the winery continues to produce its exceptional wines in an ecologically friendly manner including organic practices, and native cover crops. The wines made with so much care in such a unique terroir as Kaiserstuhl are mindbending.
The wines in the Franz Anton line from the Franz Keller estate are made in tribute to the founder. The grapes in these wines are sourced from old-growth vineyards around Kaiserstuhl. The idea is to create a superior blend from the top-quality grapes at the various vineyards.
Weingut Franz Keller has been a member of “VDP. Die Prädikatsweingüter”, the most esteemed German association for winemakers, since 2014. Kaiserstuhl, the warmest and sunniest German wine region, is characterized by volcanic soils covered with fertile loess that provide excellent wine-growing conditions. Volcanic soils types vary greatly from vineyard to vineyard. This soil diversity contributes vastly to the exciting taste variety of the wines.

Pristine, pure fruit abounds in this exceptionally fresh, invigorating red. Crisp red-cherry and -plum flavors are accented by crushed minerals, blossoms, and tobacco. Full-bodied and plump in mouthfeel, it's balanced by fresh acidity and a hint of ash reminiscent of the Kaiserstuhl's volcanic origins.
