About the Wine

Pazo de Villarei stays true to their Celtic Origins. After 20 centuries since the Celts arrival to northern Spain, the effect is still noticeable. The labels of the wines all display a Celtic knot. It isn't all aesthetic, the estate claims that their planting regimen of maintaining an altitude between 100 and 300 meters was originally established by their Celtic ancestors. If carrying on tradition is what makes these wines so good, let's hope they keep it up.

This Albariño is the estate's flagship white wine, made entirely from a single variety from Rias Baixas in northern Spain. The region is significantly cooler than the rest of Spain due to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. The grapes of Rias Baixas enjoy a significant amount of rainfall every year, allowing the vines to get every ounce of nutrients from the soil that they need.

Albariño grapes mainly consist of grapes grown in the Northwest Rias Baixas region of Spain. Albariño is quickly gained popularity for its relaxed and unique character. Palatable and fresh, this 2016 Pazo De Villarei Rias Baixas Albariño has a complexity that is nearly impossible to dislike.

Tasting Notes: This crisp and aromatic, with aromas of gardenia and green apple. The palate offers a full mouthfeel brimming with refreshing citrus and stone fruits, and a light herbal finish.
