Paradise. The Cetti family put it right there in the name of their vineyards and winery, Poderi del Paradiso, the farm of paradise. Is there a more apt name for a vineyard in the rolling hillsides just south of San Gimignano near Siena in Tuscany?
Almost 75 acres of vines, many growing Tuscany’s prized Sangiovese, grow on Poderi del Paradiso’s hills, alongside olive trees and the iconic Tuscan Cypress trees. Their 2020 Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG is a natural reflection of the Tuscan terroir that nurtures Sangiovese like nowhere else in the world.
Winemaker Paolo Caciorgna crafts classic Chianti vintage after vintage, shaped by the hot days and the cool nights of Tuscany’s summer. The days of summer 2020, in particular, were hot and dry, creating beautifully ripe grapes that gained acidity and aromatics during the cool nights. The Colli Senesi DOCG is located close enough to the Mediterranean Sea to get the cooling breezes that come inland during the summer, too, further benefiting the Sangiovese grapes.
The result is a perfect food pairing Chianti with the classic tell-tales of red berries and violets that give away a well-made Sangiovese. This is an easy-going wine for any night of the week.
Aging: Aged in second-use barrels for 8 to 12 months.
Tasting Notes: 100% Sangiovese. Ruby-red. Aromas of cherry, violets. Smooth on the palate, fruity—cherry, cranberry—with pepper, leather, and cocoa. A harmonious and persistent finish.
