About The Wine

Fasoli Gino has been working Veneto since 1925 — and went fully organic in 1979, when the second-generation Gino Fasoli developed a chemical allergy and decided the vineyards had to change. By 1984, the estate had committed to organic principles across the board.

Today, they're the only biodynamic producer in the region, a century-old family operation that's spent the last forty years proving you don't need shortcuts to make honest wine.

This is Merlot from the Veronese IGT — Veneto's answer to right-bank Bordeaux, built on the same grape but with the mineral backbone and bright acidity that comes from the morainic hills around Lake Garda. It's organic farming married to old-world winemaking: no chemicals, no shortcuts, just fruit and time.

The 2018 vintage shows what happens when you let the variety speak without getting in the way. Merlot can turn flabby and forgettable in the wrong hands — this one holds the line.

The kind of wine that makes sense on the table with something grilled, or in the cellar for the next few years while it rounds out.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

96pts, Luca Maroni

An intense wine full of pure leather soaked in wild blueberries with deep, vibrant aromas of bay leaves and dark chocolate. Medium-bodied, this has good density, velvety tannins and balsamic depth sustained by refreshing, if not racy, acidity. The well-balanced finish is stunningly savory. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Drink or hold. ~92 James Suckling

THE PRODUCER

Fasoli Gino

Founded in 1925 in the heart of Soave, Veneto. Agricultural journey began in 1921 when Amadio Fasoli chose to focus on viticulture in the Illasi Valley, east of Verona. First sales invoice issued in 1925 to the parish priest. Second generation led by Gino Fasoli expanded vineyard area and wine production throughout Verona. Third generation transitioned to organic farming in 1979 due to Gino's allergy to chemicals. Since 1984, Fasoli Gino has upheld organic winemaking and viticulture principles. Stands as the sole biodynamic winery in the region, pioneering this approach for over a decade. In 2025, marks a century of winemaking, evolving from traditional producer into pioneer of organic and biodynamic viticulture. Fasoli Gino was founded in 1925 in the heart of Soave, Veneto.
