About the Wine

The Frias family bought 100 acres on Spring Mountain in 1977 and created Frias Family Vineyards 10 years later. Originally founded by Manny and Maria Frias the Estate is run by the second generation Fernando and Many Frias Jr. Winemaker Todd Heth joined the team in 2004 and has been producing rich full-bodied Napa Reds from high-quality vineyards since he arrived. Frias Family Vineyards specializes in small production terroir-driven wines that showcase the beauty of Napa Valley.

LADY of the DEAD is a homage to the FRIAS heritage and family. This Cabernet-heavy blend is a serious step up from the debut release in intensity and quality. She’s a beautiful Cabernet-heavy blend that’s medium-to-full-bodied in richness, coating the palate with notes of lush burgundy plums and blackberries. This wine club only wine is now available online and just in time to celebrate Dia de Los Muertos!

Tasting Notes: Red Wine. 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah, and 10% Merlot. The wine starts with a bouquet of red fruits, cinnamon, and spice. The wine then coats the palate with notes of lush burgundy plums and blackberries. Concluding with balancing sweet tannins, this Lady is ready to be taken seriously.

Reviews

Lastly, the 2016 Lady of the Dead is a beauty that should be snatched up by readers. A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah, and the rest Merlot, this medium to full-bodied effort is loaded with fruit and has a charming, accessible, yet balanced and complete profile. Giving up plenty of darker fruits peppery herbs, ground herbs, and earth, it’s well worth your time and should drink nicely for 10-15 years. ~94 Jeb Dunnuck (v. 2016)
