Let’s start with the vineyard—a rugged Douro landscape where sun-kissed grapes like Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, and Touriga Nacional thrive. These all-stars of Portuguese viticulture are blended with precision to create a wine that’s as bold as it is balanced. With a year of French oak aging, the result is a black fruit bombshell wrapped in silky structure and a touch of toasty complexity.
Bartholomew Broadbent didn’t just stumble into Portuguese wines—he fell head over cork for their vibrant fruit flavors, drinkability, and versatility. His mission? To bring wines that balance affordability with impeccable quality. And guess what? Mission accomplished.
He founded Broadbent Selections in 1996, dedicated to importing fine wines and spirits from family-owned vineyards practicing responsible viticulture.
Aging: 12 months in French oak barrels
Tasting Notes
Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca, & Touriga Nacional. Deep ruby red in color with intense aromas, hints of strawberry and raspberry, and black fruits, such as plum and blueberry. Notes of spices, pepper, ginger, balsamic, mint and a well-integrated woody element. This wine is firm, yet polished, with round tannins. Further notes of red fruits come to the fore and invite a most elegant finish.
