About the Wine

Dolum Estate in Napa Valley is a first-class winery born 30 years ago with the ambition to produce super-premium red wines. Thanks to its high quality, each of Dolum's wines has built a solid reputation among wine lovers and connoisseurs.

The grapes to produce these wine gems are carefully sourced from small sub-districts throughout the Napa Valley (including Oakville and the Stags Leap District) that surround some of the most rewarded wineries In the region.

Chad Alexander is the mind behind these iconic wines. He’s a rockstar winemaker who worked in some of the most coveted wineries like Mt. Veeder’s Hess Collection Winery. With unparalleled attention to detail, Chad ensures that every element contributes to the ultimate expression of his wines. His pursuit of perfection allows his wines to rival and even surpass the very best in the world. His wines have obtained several high scores and ovations from some of the world's most important wine critics.

Besides sourcing grapes from some of the iconic regions in Napa Valley. Dolum has its own single vineyard that produces wine from low-yielding 40+-year-old vines on an Oakville crossroad on the eastern side of the AV. The vineyard is placed in a beautiful terroir with sandy loam soil over superb deep red clay and limestone, providing ideal conditions for Cabernet to thrive.

 2019 was a fabulous year for Napa Valley Cabernet. Wine Spectator awarded this year a 97-point score, and Vinous Media gave it 96 points saying that "The 2019 Napa Valley Cabernets have turned out beautifully. 2019 is a very high-quality vintage of Cabernets that will be easy to drink and enjoy with minimal cellaring. The extra kick of late heat softened the tannins, making the wines a pleasure to taste and drink."

Aging: 16 months in French oak barrels (30% new)

Tasting Notes: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Lush and fleshy, with cassis, boysenberry, and blackberry notes guided by hints of alder and mesquite. Stays open but defined through the finish, with a buried hint of sweet tobacco. A rich, layered beast, this has a nose rife with currants, blackberries, vanilla, and light toast with flavors of mocha, plum, and Bing cherry that mingle harmoniously on the tongue.

Reviews

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Cask #28 is much more refined and elegant than the oversized, tannic 2018 version. Hints of sage and bay accent black cherries and redcurrants on the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied, silky, and fine, with a lingering, seductive finish. ~93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
