About the Wine
The story of Domaine La Pigeade dates back to 1960, when Nicole and Claude Vaute arrived in Beaumes-de-Venise, a commune in the Côte d'Azur, in Provence.
Nicole and Claude were born in a family of vignerons, they’re both the 5th generation of winegrowers, and because wine runs through this family’s blood, today, the 6thgeneration, Thierry and his wife Marina, are taking the leadership of this family Domaine. Nicole, Claude, and Thierry managed every aspect of the estate, from the vineyard to the cellar.
The 24-acre estate is planted mainly with Muscat and follows sustainable practices and “culture raisonnée,”the idea behind this is to farm as organically and naturally as possible until it is absolutely necessary to intervene with synthetic products.
This family-owned boutique winery is located in four of the most prestigious appellations in the Provence and the Rhone Valley, including Muscat de Beaumes de Venise, Beaumes de Venise red, Vacqueyras, and Ventoux, with vineyards just at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail. This superb location allows the grapes to benefit from an exceptional microclimate.
2019 La Pigeade Muscat de Beaumes de Venise is the perfect sweet wine. A delicious and aromatic wine that comes from old Moscato vines.
Tasting Notes: 100% Muscat Blanc. A light golden wine, brilliant with golden reflections. The complex aromatic nose shows pear with rose water and exotic fruits. This beautiful wine pairs with melon, foie gras, fruity desserts (strawberries), oriental pastries, and blue cheeses, it’s the perfect aperitif.
Elegant, subtle notes of honeydew and white peach are filigreed by fine shards of minerality in this concentrated, balanced vin doux naturel. Juicy peach, apricot and honeysuckle flavors are gorgeously concentrated but vibrant and pristine. A pleasantly sweet tipple with a fresh, mineral finish. ~91 Wine Enthusiast (v.2018)
