About the Wine
Born from the volcanic hills above Soave, I Capitelli is a luscious, honeyed, small-batch treasure that rewrites the rules of what sweet Garganega can be. While others stayed inside the lines of the Soave DOC, Anselmi walked away. Why? Because mediocrity bored him. Because his standards were too high. And because when you’re farming on Monte Foscarino’s rocky ridges, with low-yield vines and sky-high ambition, you don’t settle for anyone’s label but your own.
So instead of DOC? You get Veneto IGT—but let’s be honest, there’s nothing “typical” about this wine.
Made from late-harvested Garganega grapes air-dried into golden raisin-like jewels, I Capitelli is bottled magic. Pure velvet. It tastes like candied citrus, baked pear, saffron, and toasted almonds soaked in honey and kissed by fresh acidity that keeps it impossibly light on its feet. It’s hedonism and elegance in a single sip.
And behind it all? Roberto—the rebel genius with a vision, whose relentless pursuit of excellence turned his family estate into one of Italy’s most admired wineries. Tasting Notes
100% Garganega. Beautiful, intense aroma of honey, pineapple, apricots and herbs. The Capitelli is sweet and spicy at the same time on the palate, with great acidity that balances the wine wonderfully. Aromatic, fresh and with great length.
Reviews
I Capitelli is a passito wine made from selected late harvest grapes that go through a drying process, either naturally by 'raisining' the grapes on the vine or laying them on straw mats to desiccate in a well-ventilated drying room. It can also be a combination of the two methods. The result is a sweet, smooth dessert wine rich in alcohol. Usually, some 30-40 percent of the grapes are botrytis-affected, adding complex aromas and flavours to its primary markers of tangerine, apricots, and citrus.
