About the Wine

Nathalie and Gilles Fevre come from the prestigious Fevre family who have been stalwarts in the Chablis region since 1745. The name Fevre is synonymous with high-quality Chablis. The majority of Nathalie and Gilles vineyards are located northeast of the Chablis Grand Cru hill along with holdings in the Grand Cru Les Preuses, along with the 1er Cru vineyards Fourchaume and Mont de Milieu. Their state-of-the-art, gravity-flow winery produces top-flight Chablis with racing acidity, immense depth, and texture. Discover the beauty of the Fevre family's most underrated family members.

Chablis is loved by wine geeks and everyday drinkers alike for its characteristic minerality and finesse. Chablis' distinct terroir is due to a unique soil type found only in Chablis, Champagne, and southern England called Kimmeridgian. An ancient soil, 180 million-year-old to be exact, made up of clay and limestone that contains fossilized oyster shells. These fossilized sea-creatures are attributed to Chablis being such an excellent pairing for oysters and fresh seafood. In addition to the minerality, Chablis is known for its incredible structure and mouthwatering salinity. If you haven't had the pleasure of falling in love with Chablis yet, what are you waiting for?

Domaine Fevre comes from parcels situated beside the village of Fontenay-Près-Chablis. On high plains and steep hills with an average vine age of 25 years old. Some parcels that were planted by Gilles’ great grandfather, Marcel, in the 1950s still remain to this day. Marcel along with Gilles’ father both held the position of President at the leading cooperative La Chablisienne. The family has had a knack for producing high-quality wine for generations.

Reviews

The 2020 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru comes from 10 parcels scattered mainly over the top of the hill. It has a well-defined, crisp, and (for the vintage) quite austere nose due to the location higher up the slope. The fresh palate is nicely detailed with lime and lemon thyme and good salinity. Quite strict on the mineral-driven finish. Good potential, but it will need time. ~91-93 Vinous
