La Vigna di San Martino ad Argiano isn't some corporate négociant label — it's the personal, obsessive passion project of winemaker Giampaolo Chiettini, launched in 2012 from a single, tiny one-hectare vineyard. Before going solo, Chiettini spent years as winemaker alongside the legendary Paolo De Marchi at Isole e Olena, where he fell hard for Sangiovese and learned to make it sing. He's since gone on to consult for the likes of Antinori and Ca' del Bosco — so when I tell you this guy knows his craft, I mean it. This is what he makes when nobody's watching over his shoulder.

Every detail here is handmade and organic: hand-harvested Sangiovese in late September, wild-yeast fermentation, 20–25 days on the skins, then aged in used tonneaux until the second spring after harvest.
