About The Wine

Marques de Caceres has been redefining Spanish wine since 1970, when Enrique Forner — armed with Bordeaux techniques from Chateau Camensac and the counsel of Emile Peynaud — planted his flag in the heart of Rioja Alta. Today his daughter Cristina exports more than half the estate's production to 130 countries. The family has left its mark across five generations, from French chateaux to their home in Cenicero.

The 2020 Reserva is the wine that shows what happens when old-world Rioja DNA meets precision winemaking. Extended aging in oak — the Reserva designation requires it — builds the kind of layered complexity that sends Tempranillo lovers reaching for their wallets. This is the style Rioja built its reputation on: structured, savory, built to last.

In the glass: deep crimson, nearly opaque. Coffee beans, roasted mushrooms, black fruit, and dried spices on the nose — the hallmarks of extended barrel time done right. The palate delivers big, bold flavors of red and black fruits laced with vanilla, subtle spice, and integrated oak. Smooth through the midpalate, it continues to develop in the glass. Mild tannins and medium acidity keep it balanced and food-friendly.

THE PRODUCER

Marques de Caceres

Enrique Forner founded the winery in 1970, transforming the manner of understanding wine in Rioja by maintaining a clear focus on creating wines that speak for themselves, with quality in every detail. The Forner family has left its mark on the journey, with more than five generations spreading from their chateaux in France to their new home in La Rioja Alta. Enrique Forner returned to Spain in 1968 and chose to continue his great project in the heart of La Rioja Alta with the support of Emile Peynaud, a Bordeaux wine pioneer. Marqués de Cáceres was born in Cenicero and rapidly achieved a high international standing. Cristina Forner, Enrique's daughter, joined the business in 1983 and helped Marqués de Cáceres conquer the international stage; today the winery exports more than 50% of its production to more than 130 countries.
