Guerriero Della Terra is one of the best Montepulciano that we've had the fortune to taste and acquire in years. This wine is deep and powerful. An outstanding Montepulciano-Sangiovese blend that was blessed with 99 points by Luca Maroni, who said this is "one of the best Italian wines, of exceptional intensity, which gives its fruit a rare consistency, softness, and intact aromas. A wine that becomes a sensual experience."

Right in the middle of the Pessaro Hills, in the wine region of Le Marche, you’ll find Azienda Agraria Guerrieri, a family-owned winery that has been producing wine for more than 200 years. Today, this boutique Italian winery is run by the 6th generation of the Guerrieri family, Luca, Maria Giulia, and Alberto Guerrieri. This is Central Italy on the east coast, overlooking the Adriatic Sea.

Guerrieri comprises 48 acres of vineyards, planted in gray and blue marl soils, consisting of calcareous clay and silt. The vineyard is managed 100% under organic practices, with a minimum intervention policy. To learn more about this amazing grape and the wines from it, click here.

Guerrieri's philosophy of respect does not only apply to the vineyard, it also extends to the people. They're extremely responsible for the environment, the community, and their people. Their life mantra is to "Restore the ancient knowledge of our ancestors: Simplicity, respect, sustainability, solidarity."

Aging: 12 months in French Oak Barrels. 

Tasting Notes

95% Montepulciano and 5% Sangiovese. Amazing aromas of blackberry, blueberry pie, dark plum, intertwined with notes of chocolate and vanilla. Superb length. This wine is fabulous now and will age for 7-12 years. Serve lightly chilled and allow to decant at least 30 minutes. Pair this wine with red meat, game, and aged cheeses.
