About the Wine
Crafted from grapes sourced from Napa’s most iconic sub-regions, this wine is a true expression of the valley's unmatched terroir. Coombsville delivers the structure and depth, while Yountville adds smooth richness that makes this wine so approachable, yet so layered. Oak Knoll rounds it out with a refined elegance, weaving everything together in perfect harmony. Together, they create a wine that is at once bold and balanced, intense yet graceful.
Behind this exceptional wine is Alison Green-Doran, one of Napa Valley’s most accomplished and respected winemakers. With over 50 years of experience, Alison is a pioneer in the industry, and her influence is felt across many of Napa’s most iconic wineries. Before bringing her talents to Levendi, Alison worked at Simi Winery, where she honed her craft under the mentorship of the legendary André Tchelistcheff. She was one of the first women winemakers to make a name for herself in California, a true trailblazer in the industry. Alison also played a key role in the success of Firestone Vineyard in Santa Barbara County, where she served as winemaker for over 20 years, before returning to Napa. Her extensive experience in Napa and Sonoma has shaped her into a winemaker of unparalleled skill and vision.
At Levendi, winemaking is a family affair. The Gianulias family, with a legacy dating back to 1926, has nurtured this winery to become a symbol of Napa Valley’s finest. Today, David Gianulias continues the family tradition with a focus on quality over quantity, working closely with Alison to craft wines that reflect the very best of Napa’s terroir. Their partnership is the heart of Levendi, bringing together family heritage and world-class winemaking expertise.
The name Levendi—meaning “to celebrate life” in Greek—embodies the philosophy behind this wine. It is a tribute to the hard work, passion, and dedication of everyone involved, from the vineyard workers to the winemaker to the family behind the label. This Cabernet is a wine that celebrates not just Napa, but the people who make it exceptional.
Aging: 20 months in 18% new oak (French Oak).
Tasting Notes
92.4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7.6% Merlot. Deep ruby with a purple core, lightening to ruby at the rim. Medium staining with thick, persistent tears. A complex nose of wild cherry and ripe plum, complemented by notes of caramel, and milk chocolate. Full-bodied with rich plum and wild cherry flavors, a smooth texture, and subtle tannins. The elegant finish features hints of huckleberry, black currant, and a touch of earthiness.
Critical Reviews
Dark currant fruit brings a solid, winey feel, while ample savory, tobacco and pepper notes add range. Shows a worn cedar frame on the finish, with a subtle, lingering sanguine thread. Best from 2025 through 2035. 1,055 cases made. ~91 Wine Spectator
