Packed with ambition and guile, bestowing the palate with voluptuous black cherry compote, smoky chocolate oak and peppered mushrooms. Fulsome and structured with powerful tannins and fabulous igniting acidity rippling through. Made for the long run. ~97 Decanter
~95 Tim Atkin, Master of Wine
Aromas of roasted herbs, such as thyme and rosemary, mingle with black cherries, cloves and mocha. It’s full-bodied, dense and polished. Chewy tannins, but they melt into the dark and spicy fruit at the long finish. Drink from 2027. ~94 James Suckling
Pleasant style, distinct aromas. Color: cherry. Aroma: complex, expressive, spicy, mineral, with fine reductive notes. Palate: full-bodied, long, persistent. ~ 94 Guía Peñin
Smells of chocolaty berries with liquorice undertones, especially blackberries. Also present floral notes. Beautiful fullness and melting on the palate, salty impression, balsamic-spicy, fine-grained tannin. Expressive and elegant at the same time. ~93 Falstaff
A rich red, with a tarry underpinning. Sculpted tannins are enmeshed in flavors of baked black cherry, black licorice, plum skin, cocoa powder and smoked paprika. Well-balanced, with an herb-laced, lightly chewy finish. Drink now through 2041. 850 cases made, 400 cases imported. ~92 Wine Spectator

What the Critics Said
THE PRODUCER
Marques de Caceres
Enrique Forner founded the winery in 1970, transforming the manner of understanding wine in Rioja by maintaining a clear focus on creating wines that speak for themselves, with quality in every detail. The Forner family has left its mark on the journey, with more than five generations spreading from their chateaux in France to their new home in La Rioja Alta. Enrique Forner returned to Spain in 1968 and chose to continue his great project in the heart of La Rioja Alta with the support of Emile Peynaud, a Bordeaux wine pioneer. Marqués de Cáceres was born in Cenicero and rapidly achieved a high international standing. Cristina Forner, Enrique's daughter, joined the business in 1983 and helped Marqués de Cáceres conquer the international stage; today the winery exports more than 50% of its production to more than 130 countries.
