About The Wine

Resonance is the Oregon project of Maison Louis Jadot, the Burgundy house founded in 1859 and owned by the Kopf family since 1984. In 2013, they purchased two vineyards in the Willamette Valley and brought the same winemaking discipline that built their Burgundian reputation — selection massale vines, organic dry-farming, no irrigation, and a hands-on approach that treats every block like a climat.

This bottle comes from Decouverte Vineyard, the estate's second holding in the heart of Dundee Hills. The volcanic Jory soils here deliver red-fruit character and freshness — the kind of tension Oregon does better than anywhere outside Burgundy.

The 2021 vintage started chaotic (late cool spring, record June heat) but a warm, dry summer evened things out, and harvest from September 9th to 23rd brought small clusters of ripe, clean fruit.

The wine is all Pinot Noir — Pommard, Dijon 777, and Wadenswil clones mixed within blocks, handpicked and destemmed, then punched down twice daily during a 3–4 week fermentation before aging in barrel. What you get is dark florals and mentholated herbal tones lifting crushed blackberry, with depths of vividly ripe black cherries under an air of violet pastille. Hints of licorice and lavender, a sour citrus tinge, gently grippy tannins, and a lingering finish with lovely inner freshness.

For the Pinot drinker who knows what Burgundian discipline looks like when it crosses the Pacific.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

A smaller vineyard, 3ha planted in 1996, Dundee Hills fleshy red fruits, this wine is gorgeously fruited with lifting character of mint and white pepper. Candied red fruits transition to elegance and savoury 30% new French oak, 18 months in barrel. This wine distinguishes itself on spice and lifted fruit character. Elegance and freshness drive a generosity of fruit, with wild red berries, bright pomegranate and candied strawberry flavours. ~95 Decanter

The 2021 Pinot Noir Découverte Vineyard is simply stunning, enticing with dark florals and mentholated herbal tones elevating its crushed blackberry fruit. This opens with a pleasant inner sweetness and textures of pure silk, giving way to depths of vividly ripe black cherries that swirl under an air of violet pastille. The 2021 lingers impossibly long while maintaining a lovely inner freshness. Hints of licorice and lavender fade over a sour citrus tinge and gently grippy tannins.~ 94 Vinous Media

Fragrant notes of lavender, fresh and sour cherries, licorice, potpourri and nutmeg. Medium-bodied with creamy, velvety tannins. Open, spicy and energetic. Made from older vines in the Decouverte vineyard. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. ~ 93 James Suckling

The 2021 Pinot Noir Découverte Vineyard has expressive aromas of red cherry, cranberry, lavender, bitters and fennel. The light-bodied palate is bright and delicately styled with lacy tannins, nuanced flavors and a long, spicy finish. It opens dramatically with air and will benefit from an hour in a decanter. ~ 93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Handsomely built and dynamic, this Pinot offers raspberry and cherry flavors framed by stony minerality and forest floor tones while building tension toward medium-grained tannins. Drink now through 2032. ~ 93 Wine Spectator

Lighter in body, this Pinot Noir is graced by electrifying acidity, tart red cherry, green tea and clove flavors, and a long finish. The wine's aromas are earthy, with loamy soil uniting with blackberries, pine needles and grilled portobello mushrooms. ~ 91 Wine Enthusiast
