Socré Società Semplice Agricola is one of Barbaresco’s hidden treasures—an unbroken family legacy dating back to 1869, when the Piacentino ancestors settled in Barbaresco and began cultivating Nebbiolo on the region’s sacred hills.

Over generations, the family shaped and refined the estate: from Benedetto Piacentino’s vineyard redesign in 1958—cementing Nebbiolo as the estate’s heartbeat—to the 1990s expansion into Langhe and Roero by Marco and Rosella, supported by their sons Giulio and Lorenzo.

A defining milestone arrived between 2010 and 2012 with the construction of a new cellar, allowing Socré to vinify every grape from their estate holdings with greater precision than ever before. Since then, the winery has steadily earned acclaim, collecting medals and praise from critics and guides alike.

Today, Socré fuses its deep-rooted heritage with modern craftsmanship, producing wines that honor Barbaresco’s traditions while showcasing the purity, structure, and soul of Nebbiolo—crafted by a family that has lived and breathed this land for more than 150 years.

Against this backdrop, 2021 stands out as a truly extraordinary vintage. Both Robert Parker and Vinous Media awarded the year 96 points, calling it “marvelously complete,” with a captivating blend of energy, depth, and site character—qualities that define the very best Barbarescos.

Deep in color and confident in presence, it embodies Nebbiolo at its most expressive. The palate balances power with finesse, gliding through a smooth, assertive mid-palate before tightening into a long, structured finish carried by dense, beautifully polished tannins.

Made exclusively from Nebbiolo, the wine follows a meticulous aging path: 12–15 months in small French oak barrels (one-third new), 12 months in large 20-hl casks, and at least a year of bottle refinement. This slow, deliberate evolution results in remarkable harmony and an aging potential of 20+ years.
