About the Wine
The fame of Chateau Marquis de Terme dates back to Thomas Jefferson when according to his diaries, he claimed this wine as one of the 16 greatest wines he had ever tasted.
The story of Marquis de Terme begins in 1762, when Mademoiselle Ledoux d'Emplet married François de Peguilhan Marquis de Terme, giving her the estate that would come to bear her name as a dowry. Included in the Medoc Classification of 1855, Chateau Marquis de Terme was classified as a Fourth Great Growth. This legendary Château is located only half a mile from 1st Growth Chateau Margaux (which wines sell for over $900 a bottle) the Grand Vin from Chateaux Marquis de Terme is an exceptional value and a can't-miss for any Bordeaux enthusiast.
Ideally located in the heart of the Margaux appellation with heavy influences from both the Gironde estuary and the Bay of Biscay, and protected by coastal pine forests from the harsh winds creates the perfect growing conditions for their vines. Organic farming was started on a small parcel of vines with their first organic wine being the 2013 vintage. Now farming all vineyards organically and achieving organic certification in 2017.
Critics agree, this 94-point Margaux is a pure gem. James Suckling called it "a solid Margaux." VertdeVin claimed this is and " elegant, delicate, beautifully defined" wine. Vinous Media said " This is an impressive wine." And Jeb Dunnuck stated that this is " another outstanding wine from this terrific estate."
2022 was an extraordinary vintage for Bordeaux, it was blessed with a 95 pt review by Wine Spectator who said: "A new paradigm for Bordeaux. Very aromatic and sleek, fresh and pure in feel, with all major varietals performing well; far more consistent than the 2018-2020 trio."
Aging: 18 months in French oak barrels, 50% new. Vine age 35 years.
Tasting Notes
Lucious black fruit emerges on the nose, with spiced notes with tobacco and licorice. Firm tannins and a velvet texture.

Solid and decisive in the sensory profile, it shows notes of black plums, blackberries, bergamot, lime, mandarin peel, lavender, plums and cherries. Lots of rosemary describes the secondary scene. Full body, perfectly ripe tannins and a finish of commendable tasting beauty. Better from 2028. ~96 WinesCritic.com
Blackberries and pencil shavings with blueberries and dark chocolate follow through to a medium body with a solid core of pretty fruit and a polished and refined palate. The tannin structure is very impressive, yet there is an underlying freshness. Drink after 2027. ~94 James Suckling
Based on 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, the 2022 Château Marquis De Terme is brilliant stuff, with a richly textured, concentrated, medium to full-bodied style. Ripe darker currants, scorched earth, graphite, and lead pencil nuances all define the aromatics, and it's balanced, with a pure, layered mouthfeel and ripe tannins. It ranks with the finest vintages of this cuvée to date. Give bottles 3-5 years and enjoy over the following two decades or more. ~94 Jeb Dunnuck
This classed growth estate has produced a balanced, fruity wine. Juicy and full of black currant fruits, with a crushed blackberry aroma, its straightforward blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot gives a wine withi intensity and concentration. Drink this wine from 2029. ~94 Wine Enthusiast
Lush in its fruit, with waves of dark currant and blackberry reduction, this also shows form thanks to alder, tobacco and savory accents providing cut, while rose hip and dried violet notes add lift. Offers a long, smoldering finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2026 through 2040. 10,000 cases made. ~94 Wine Spectator
