About the Wine
Since 1994, Chanel has owned Château Rauzan-Ségla, elevating this historic 1661 estate into one of Bordeaux’s most admired Second Growths. Once so prized that Thomas Jefferson personally imported it, today the wines embody Coco Chanel’s credo: “Fashion changes, but style endures.”
Under winemaker Nicolas Audebert, Rauzan-Ségla has undergone a renaissance — modernized cellars, replanting across Margaux’s 21 soil types, and parcel-by-parcel precision. The result: wines that are at once silky, powerful, and enduring.
Earning the #34 spot in James Suckling’s Top 100 French Wines of 2025, the 2022 Rauzan-Ségla is hailed as a modern Margaux icon—where Chanel’s elegance meets near-perfect critical acclaim in a wine destined for legend.
The 2022 vintage is already being hailed as a “new paradigm for Bordeaux” (Wine Spectator, 95pts). Combining richness with elegance, it is built for decades of cellaring, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the very best of Margaux.
2022 Rauzan-Ségla will reward patience. While it shows stunning fruit purity today, critics recommend cellaring until 2029–2030 for full expression. Enjoyable through 2060 and beyond.

Aromas of blueberries and blackberries with walnuts and hints of tar that follow through to a medium to full body with plush and velvety tannins and a lovely, caressing mouthfeel. It closes up at the end. Extremely long, pure, and structured. Classic 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot. From organically grown grapes. Give this at least until after 2030 to open and come around. ~98 James Suckling
Deep ruby colour, opaque core, purple reflections, discreet brightening on the rim. Fresh cherries, hints of cassis, a touch of nougat and plums, fine wood spice, and orange zest; an inviting bouquet. Complex, juicy, ripe fruit, freshening acidity, elegant and mineral. Very long finish with chocolatey nuances. Full of promise, showing balance and delicacy. ~98 Falstaff
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Rauzan-Segla is made from 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot, aged for 18 months in French oak, 50% of it new. It needs a little shaking to wake up scents of warm cassis, fresh blueberries, and lilacs, giving way to suggestions of menthol and fragrant soil. The full-bodied palate is laden with generous black fruit layers, supported by beautifully polished, soft tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and perfumed. ~97 The Wine Palate
The 2022 Rauzan-Ségla is showing well in bottle, unfurling in the glass with aromas of dark berries and cherries mingled with licorice, burning embers, and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, ample and velvety, it's suave and seamless, with its dense core of fruit framed by powdery structuring tannins that lend a more evident backbone than it exhibited en primeur. As readers may remember, the 2022 is a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot; and in 2022, the east-facing sides of the vines, which see the afternoon sun, were picked separately, along with anything that showed signs of stress. ~96 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
This is dreamy, with deliciously juicy mulberry and blackberry puree flavors that stream through, carried by a vivid mix of iris, violet, and anise, along with a long, well-embedded iron note. As this airs in the glass, it gains a caressing feel and greater depth, ending with a long echo of warm earth. Beautifully done. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. ~96 Wine Spectator
