About The Wine

Inama is Soave's most respected estate, period. Founded in 1967 by Giuseppe Inama, the family owns sixty-six acres almost entirely on Monte Foscarino — the single most prized vineyard site in Soave Classico. The volcanic soils, ancient and mineral-rich, give Garganega a depth and structure most Soave never approaches.

Vigneti di Foscarino is the top cuvee, made from the oldest vines on the finest parcels of Monte Foscarino and handled separately from the rest of the estate's production. East-facing slopes catch the morning sun and dodge the afternoon heat, preserving the floral aromatics and driving minerality that make this wine unmistakable. The 2022 vintage marks the 30th Anniversary — three decades of a wine that sits alone at the top of the zone's quality ladder.

Stefano and Matteo Inama are minimal interventionalists: gentle destemming without crushing, 3–12 hours of skin contact, then slow fermentation and aging in barriques with six months of settling. No heavy-handed fining or filtering. The process gets out of the way and lets the volcanic terroir speak.

In the glass: golden robe, haunting spring flowers, deep minerality. Rich fruit — apricot, mango, citrus — mingles with chamomile, elderflower, and roasted almond. Full-bodied, intensely mineral, smooth polished finish. This is the wine that proves Garganega belongs in the conversation with the great white grapes of Italy.

James Suckling scored it 96 points; Vinous gave it 94. The 2022 is drinking beautifully now and will hold through 2026. For $69.99 on a six-pack, you're getting the pinnacle expression of Soave Classico from the family that defined it.

CRITIC REVIEWS

What the Critics Said

Foscarino as a modern-day muse. An inspiring wine that can lead to greater ideas. This profound wine opens with aromas of quince, roasted Fuji, preserved kumquats and an entire meadow full of flowers that encompasses all senses. Rich on the palate, yet stately the wine threads the needle as flavors of orange flower water, white peach, mint and honey flow into a sea of crushed shells and green almonds giving a salty, savory finish that languishes. Drink Now - 2040. ~ 97 Wine Enthusiast

This is very intense with electric acidity. Dried apples, lemons and minerals with a salty undertone. Full-bodied with phenolic tension and an extremely long finish. Hints of oyster. Needs two or three years to show its greatness, but fantastic already.
~95 James Suckling

The 2022 Soave Classico Foscarino is decidedly savory in the glass, mixing wild herbs, ginger and wet slate with crushed nectarines. Luxuriously soft and supple, it reveals depths of ripe apple and melon complicated by a tinge of flint. It tapers off with a pleasantly tart sensation, leaving hints of sour citrus that pucker the cheeks.~93 Vinous Media

Now celebrating its 30th birthday, the Inama 2022 Soave Classico Foscarino offers aromas of Williams pear and peach nectar. This versatile white also has a spicy side with dustings of cumin and mustard seed. This release of 40,000 bottles represents a selection of fruit from across 20 hectares of vines on volcanic soils in the UGA Foscarino. The wine is fermented and aged in a combination of stainless steel, botte grande and neutral French barrique. ~ 92 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
