It’s the culmination of a journey that began in the 1980s, when Powell & Son’s founders fell in love with the Barossa’s ancient Rhône varietals. Over decades, they restored neglected vineyards, embracing organic and biodynamic practices to produce wines that speak of their origins.

Dave Powell burst onto the Barossa wine scene in the 1990s, honing his craft with icons like Yalumba, Rockford, and Peter Lehmann. In 1994, he founded Torbreck, catapulting the winery to global fame with wines like the flagship RunRig, which scored 100 points from Robert Parker. Tasting Notes

Special, rare, unique, tiny production, from one of the top winemakers and wineries in Australia. There aren't enough hyperbolic adjectives here. This is truly a white wine that must be tasted to be appreciated. This will age for 20-30 years, easily. But, no need to wait. Open this wine now and enjoy the ride as it blossoms in the glass over the course of 30 minutes or more. There is some french oak and vanilla, but it's an undertone, a bass drum, in a symphony of flavors. This Marsanne shows notes of butterscotch, honeyed citrus, stone fruit, white florals and apricot kernel. The palate is shows creamy phenolic texture, though not in the slightest part oily. Flavors of stone fruit and honey abound with light lemony acid to maintain the long finish. The wine finishes with white peach and subtle savory ham hock, with persistent phenolics driving to the end of the palate.
