Domaine Les Clos Maurice has been farming in the heart of Saumur-Champigny since 1783 — seven generations rooted in the Loire's tuffeau limestone. Today Nicolas Gaignon leads the estate, fully certified organic and biodynamic, coaxing clean, precise Cabernet Franc from vines that have seen four decades.

Volage is pure varietal expression: 100% Cabernet Franc from 40-year-old vines, hand-harvested and vinified in stainless steel, then aged in concrete tanks to preserve the grape's signature graphite-edged lift. The approach is hands-off — indigenous yeasts, three weeks of maceration in ovoid concrete — letting the tuffeau limestone speak through the fruit.

The 2023 shows vivid ruby with purple reflections. Raspberry, crushed violets, and graphite emerge on the nose, with subtle spice and underbrush. The palate is bright and lively — juicy red fruit, silky tannins, refreshing acidity — finishing with a mineral edge that's lifted and pure.
